We LOVE you and support you, always ❤️(sic),’ another follower wrote. According to The Ehlers-Danlos Society, there are thirteen different types of Ehlers-Danlos syndromes. They’re generally characterized by ‘joint hypermobility (joints that stretch further than normal), skin hyperextensibility (skin that can be stretched further than normal), and tissue fragility.’  Joint hypermobility can cause loose and unstable joints which leads to a number of issues, including frequent dislocations as well as early onset osteoarthritis. And skin hyperextensibility can lead to fragile skin that tears or bruises easily, severe scarring and slow, poor wound healing, among other things.Other issues caused by Ehlers-Danlos syndromes can include: chronic early onset debilitating musculoskeletal pain, arterial/intestinal/uterine fragility or rupture, scoliosis, poor muscle tone, mitral valve prolapse and gum disease. The disorder is rare, affecting only 1 in 5,000 individuals worldwide.
